Award-winning feature film Cwcw (Cuckoo) will be broadcast on S4C in two parts, beginning at 9pm on Sunday 7th March and continuing on Sunday 14th March, with subtitled repeats on Thursday 11th and Thursday 18th March at 10pm.
Cwcw is an acclaimed Welsh-language drama telling the story of Jane Jones (Eiry Thomas), a frustrated writer for soap opera 'Family Doctor' starring Dr Gareth, played by her alcoholic, incompatible husband. Approaching breakdown, Jane decides to break away and reinvent herself, only to find that the past tends to catch her up, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.
Awarded the Best International Feature Film Award at the International Film Festival of South Africa and Best Feature award at the Female Eye Film Festival in Montreal, Canada, Cwcw is moving satire on the world of media business, where unconscious irony rubs shoulders with real tragedy and terror.
The film has been described as "sublime" by Trefnydd Gŵyl Filmstock, "a memorable film which is sure to inspire" by the UK National Writers’ Union, and "a story that continues to unfold layer after layer right up until the very end" by the Kansas International Film Festival.
