John Hardy
John Hardy is a highly-acclaimed composer whose concert music has been described as 'utterly engrossing' and 'unique' by the Guardian, 'witty' by the Independent, 'gripping and intensely theatrical' by Opera Now and 'energetic, instinctive' by the Times.
He is regularly commissioned to write substantial choral and instrumental works for organisations such as Welsh National Opera, DV8, BBC National Orchestra & Chorus of Wales, BBC Concert Orchestra, Test Dept. and Westminster Abbey.
A quadruple BAFTA Cymru winner, John Hardy is a master in the art of writing original music for film and other media such as television, theatre, dance, visual arts and other forms of collaboration. He has written original music for over 200 productions including films, drama series, documentaries and broadcasts viewed worldwide.
Music for concert performance
John Hardy's orchestral piece Blue Letters from Tanganyika, commissioned, performed five times and recorded by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales was released on Ffin Records on 1st May 2009.
John was recently commissioned by the BBC Concert Orchestra to compose one twelfth of a composite piece for a special Music & Chance concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall on 17 February 2009, along with The Petshop Boys, Will Gregory and Anne Dudley. The concert was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in May.

Recent ACW commissions and awards include the Creative Wales Award and funding for the choral cycle Spaces - Beyond the End of the World / Gofod - Tu hwnt Terfyn y Byd with the PRS Foundation, commissioned by Vivace Singers with Only Men Aloud! collaborating as Serendipity.

Hugh Fowler is studio manager and associate composer, providing creative contribution to projects and technical production expertise.
Ed Scolding engages with listeners, clients and press. A composer in his own right, Ed also manages the scores catalogue.
Heledd Wyn is a painter, photographer, poet, lyricist, composer and singer. She has contributed to many projects over the years and is John's wife and business partner.
Stewart Lucas founded the recording studio and collaborated with John Hardy over many years on a vast range of projects. John and Stewart share writing credits on a large number of recordings, including some on the media player.
